AdBrite Blog

The numbers are out

“Internet ad revenue climbs 26 percent” says this featured story on News.com. “classified listings were the next-biggest ad category [behind paid-search and banners], attracting 18 percent of the spending.”

The odd part about this article is that they refer to text-ads as “classifieds” (no, they’re not talking about Craigslist, Hotjobs, or sites that directly sell classified-ish ads…). Anyway.. What’s this mean for the AdBrite community? With advertisers’ ever-expanding budgets, this is a great time to be a publisher. (and those budgets wouldn’t be expanding if it weren’t a great time to be an advertiser too, of course)

Interestingly, much of the world still associates text-ads with classified ads. So why not create a “classifieds” page in your site, set your pricing cheap ($1? $5? $20 per ad?), set your “maximum ads to display” to 1,000 or something, and let your community have at it. Email me with a link to your classifieds site so I can post it here!

Rock on.
