Make sense of your Earnings Report

We’ve worked with publishers to create a comprehensive “earnings report” — it gives publishers a lot of information. But with lotsa power & features, sometimes comes confusion. When you click “your earnings“, you’ll see a schedule of ads, and when they have started running.

To see when the funds are credited to your account (when you’ll get paid…), click the “order” link just below the “display report” button. This will give you a GAAP (”generally accepted accounting principles”) report. GAAP means that, when you sell a “direct ad”, the revenue is counted as soon as the campaign is completed.

In other words, if you sell a 1-month ad for $1,000, the money is credited to your account at the end of the 30 days. This protects the advertiser in case you remove their ad before the end of the month (and protects the publisher so you don’t end up owing money to anyone). Internally at AdBrite, we count revenue the same way, as do most companies (that IRS and their wacky rules…).

Anyway, after you’ve clicked this “order” link, you can select a “pay period” and click “display report”. The orders that show in black have “matured,” and you will get paid for them at the next pay period (at the end of each calendar month). You’ll see a “subtotal” line under all the black orders to make it easy to see what your next check will be. Orders in blue are still running, so haven’t yet matured.

Hope your brain hasn’t exploded. Ours did a few times while trying to figure out an easy way to satisfy everyone’s needs. Let us know if we can help with anything, and any additional questions or ideas you have for the earnings report.

Thanks!
