Today AdBrite is proud to introduce the Full Page Ad. The Full Page Ad replaces our previous Active Interstitial product and now enables brand advertisers to bring the same kind of full page advertising seen on newspapers and magazines over to websites. To really give a sense of the capabilities of this ad format, we decided to start with the history of the full page ad…
The one that started it all…
In 1959, the ad agency Doyle Dane Bernbach created the ad campaign for the Volkswagen Beetle. Considered the greatest ad campaign of the 20th century by AdAge, the agency’s new approach to advertising as an art form sparked a creative revolution in the advertising industry in the following decades.

Since then, iconic companies such as Nike, American Express, and Harley Davidson have all used full page ad campaigns to capture the attention and imagination of viewers. As an example, American Express’s “My Life, My Card” campaign was shown to have increased American Express’s likeability by 5%, and increased the company’s brand awareness by 3%.

Particularly unique full page ad campaigns have even gone on to become icons of themselves. Besides stemming the declining trend in milk consumption, the “Milk Mustache” campaign is now recognized by 90% of Americans. The Absolut Vodka ads are much coveted by college students as dorm decorations; college librarians are known to be on the lookout for students who might “de-absolutize” a library magazine. Such campaigns have proven that in creative hands, the full page ad has the capability to transcend the advertising industry and enter mainstream pop culture.

The Full Page Ad arrives on the Internet
At AdBrite, we noticed that such memorable ad campaigns have yet to come online, and we decided to create a full page ad format that was adapted specifically to the internet. After interviewing many of our advertisers, website owners, and internet users, we came up with the Full Page Ad. Its benefits are the following:
-Co-sponsorship of the site. An intro page shows that a high-quality site is sponsored by a brand advertiser.
-Enhanced user experience. The intro page prepares the user for a full page ad to be shown.
-Guaranteed branding. User sees an advertiser’s logo for two seconds before seeing the actual ad
-Better performance tracking. Advertisers are able to the average number of seconds viewed for each ad.
-No use of site real estate. Publishers can earn incremental revenue without taking up their site’s webspace.
-Leverage existing creative. Advertiser’s ad can serve as the website, or microsites designed specifically for the Full Page Ad can be created.
We believe that the Full Page Ad will take online advertising to new heights. But rather than describe it, we ask you to click on the picture below to experience the ad unit for yourself.
